This week on the Atlas Real Estate Podcast… things got out of hand real quick 🐾😂
We brought in two absolute legends—Bigfoot and Yeti—to talk about the dangers of trying to sell your house by yourself… and let’s just say… it did NOT go well.
Here’s what they learned the hard way:
1. Pricing it right (not “vibes-based”)
An agent uses real data, comps, and market trends—not gut feelings or Zillow from 3 years ago. Overprice it, and it sits. Underprice it, and you leave money on the table.
2. Negotiation skills that actually protect you
Buyers will absolutely ask for repairs, credits, and concessions. A good agent knows what’s reasonable, what’s not, and how to push back without killing the deal.
3. Exposure & marketing that gets eyeballs
Agents don’t just toss a sign in the yard—they use MLS, professional photos, social media, and agent networks to get your home in front of serious buyers.
4. Handling inspections, paperwork, and deadlines
There’s a lot more to selling than agreeing on a price. Inspections, contingencies, disclosures, timelines—one missed detail can cost you thousands or kill the deal.
5. Keeping emotions out of it
Selling your home is personal. Buyers… are not. An agent acts as the buffer so you don’t accept a bad deal, reject a good one, or lose your mind over a lowball offer.
Bonus truth:
FSBO sounds like you’re saving money… until you realize you’re doing a full-time job you’re not trained for, while negotiating against someone who is.
Or as Bigfoot would say:
